Horizon Risk Consultancy Ltd was founded in January, 2017 by experienced Health, Safety and Environmental professional, Sandy Lu.
Sandy has over 17 years Health and Safety experience in the UK and Asia. With a passion to deliver advancements in Health and Safety, she obtained her Master’s by Research in Safety Culture via the Vice Chancellors’ Scholarship at the University of Huddersfield in the UK in 2016. Now she has set up Horizon Risk Consultancy Ltd to support UK businesses.
Sandy provides integrated and practical risk management solutions to UK businesses, helping them reduce business risks and improve efficiency, and helping them access and grow in the Chinese market.
Since starting up Sandy has worked with UK leading organizations such as NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), Highfield Qualifications, CIRS, British Standards Institution (BSI), NSF, Astutis, European Commission, Proper Nutty and academic institutions such as University of Huddersfield, to name a few.
Sandy’s knowledge, skills and rich experience are invaluable during all phases of business growth and evolution as well as excellent service delivery.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER:
Sandy Lu, DipNEBOSH,Grad IOSH, MA, BEd (Hons), BEng
Sandy Lu has over 14 years Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management experience in leading international companies in chemical, consumer goods and retail industry. She has over 3 years research and consultancy experience in the UK. Sandy has a Masters by Research degree in Business and Management Studies (research topic: Safety Culture) and a First Class degree in BEd. (Hons) Education in Development at the University of Huddersfield. She also has a BEng in Automation and Control.
Sandy is an internationally recognized Auditor/Lead Auditor in a wide management disciplines, including IEMA approved EMS (Environmental Management System) Lead Auditor, TUV certified Integrated Management System Internal Auditor, LRQA certified ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, SGS certified ISO 50001 Energy Management System Internal Auditor. She helps customers establish integrated management systems improving the business efficiency.
Continually updating her CPD, Sandy achieved the National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety with distinction and National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with CREDIT. She is a Graduate Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) and is now working towards CMIOSH. She is a Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) approved tutor across a wide range of subjects, such as Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Food Safety and Business Improvement and Lean. Sandy has advanced the profession by contributing to the BSI draft ISO 45001 Occupational Safety and Health standard review. Sandy is one of the 200 Associate Consultant within BSI (British Standards Institution) Associated Consultant Programme (ACP), meaning she is a BSI approved consultants who have demonstrated the knowledge and experience in relation to certified management systems.
Sandy is actively involved in local community activities. She believe that sharing creates a sense of well-being, she volunteered with Kirklees Council’s Comoodle Project providing free health and safety training to empower local community organisations (e.g., the Denby Dale Centre). Sandy is a volunteer School Governor with Health and Safety Expertise for Nields J, I & N School in Huddersfield. She is also a freelance Interpreter and Translator for Kirklees Council Community Language Service. As an IOSH Member, Sandy actively participated in IOSH events and her company became a supporter of IOSH’s NTTL campaign in 2017 to help raise awareness of work-related cancers with her stakeholders.
Sandy also help UK businesses and organisations work in China, and create opportunities for providing UK health & safety training (e.g. IOSH training courses) and consultancy in China. With her international exposure and UK working experience, she can support businesses and organisations in bridging East and West by promoting the understanding of different cultures, fostering collaborative partnerships and promoting best practice.
